The “Pott” is the cradle of heavy metal in Germany and til today can not be beaten in shows and atmosphere. The scene there is still what one can associate with the euphoria of the 80s. That's why it has long been a dream to bring a similar concept to the Ruhr Area, such as the KEEP IT TRUE and the KIT Warm Up Live Shows.
KIT co-organizer Oliver Weinsheimer realizes this dream in cooperation with Kiri Naumann as HAMMER AND IRON Festival at the Turock in Essen on 18 January 2020. The Turock is one of the greatest live clubs in Germany and just perfect for this festival. We have put together a great line up in the classic KIT style and we hope to welcome you in January. As a welcome present, the first 100 (!!) people, who enter the festival will receive a free brandnew CD from Skol Records.

Here are the [first] confirmed bands:
After the amazing tour 2019, legendary US Metal Gods JAG PANZER return to Germany for an exclusive Old School Show.

ETERNAL CHAMPION are one of THE newcomers of the last years and we are happy to have them at HAMMER AND IRON for an exclusive German show after the glorious gig at KEEP IT TRUE.

BROCAS HELM are underground legends from 80s. We are happy we can have them again for an exclusive European show at HAMMER AND IRON

With “Hellish Crossfire”, German Speed Metal legends IRON ANGEL released a real classic, teutonic Speed Metal album and for sure they will tear apart Turock. It is the first show in the Ruhrpott area after their reunion.

With their new album “The Smokeless Fires”, German LUNAR SHADOW became one of the best newcomers of the last years. We are happy, we can host one of their rare and selected shows.

All payments in the Turock will be made in cash. You can leave and enter the venue as often and when you want. Only during the start of the festival till the first bands we may do deny exiting the venue, because it would get too crowded in the entrance area.

After the end of JAG PANZER, there will be an old school underground disco with a not yet confirmed special DJ. It will be open end.

But now here are the final three bands for HAMMER OF IRON. All are local bands and with them the billing is final.

IRON KOBRA from Gelsenkirchen are now already ten years a huge part of the German Underground Scene and are a no brainer for our first edition of HAMMER AND IRON.

IRON THOR are the reborn sons of Canadian Metal Avenger Thor and will deliver an amazing stage show and of course all the Thor hits!

THE NIGHT ETERNAL are one of the best newcomers out of Germany and got raving reviews for their lately released EP.

Your help and support is beyond belief and makes us really proud and happy. Because of that, we decided to add even more quality and so the one and only Jacky Lee Man (official sound engineer of SAXON) will come to HAMMER AND IRON festival and deliver a crystal clear sound for you all!! We are happy about this collabortation and January cannot come soon enough!

unfortunately JAG PANZER are forced to cancel their show at Hammer and Iron Festival. Its not possible for Singer Harry The Tyrant Conklin to come to Germany on that date. He informed us with great sorrow about that a little while ago. In cooperation with the band we tried to save the show with a well known replacement singer, but we finally decided to do Jag Panzer only with Harry and so we can confirm JAG PANZER for HAMMER AND IRON 2, which will happen on January 16th 2021, also at the Turock.

Here is a statement by the band:

“On behalf of the band we are heartbroken over this cancellation! We would like to apologize to Kiri, Oliver and their team, and everyone who was coming out to see us! We will see everyone at HAMMER AND IRON 2 in 2021!!“

We are happy that we found a more than amazing replacement band. Canadian Speed Metal gods EXCITER with original singer/drummer Dan Beehler and original bassist Allan Johnson will blow up the roof of the Turock. Tons of classic metal hymns for all you Heavy Metal Maniacs. Till January!!

IMPORTANT: Tickets [for next year] will be available already on the festival this saturday. You can get them at our Merch Stand for 45 Euro including all fees. The remaining tickets will be sold through Nuclear Blast the week after the festival. Be Quick Or Be Dead!
